Noborigama firing
I am almost finished with cleaning out the firebox and 2 rooms of the kiln. I planned on firing this coming week but won’t make it by a long shot.
Update #4, nobori firing
I am closing in on room #1, #2 is a nice temperature. I have been drawing back every evening with only stoking large wood in the front and resuming regular stoking during the day.

This was the peak at about 48 hours.

This is about 40 hours into it. I have stepped up the pace and plan on finishing tomorrow. The high temperature is the first room.

Closing the doors of the kiln, noborigama.
I have the doors bricked up and almost sealed. I plan to start the fire the 6th. of August.
Day 2 of loading the noborigama.
Here is the second room, back stack. The mushroom looking things are cups that are being fired upside down. The base is the holder. Each shelf holds 4 bowls and 4 small pieces.

Here is the state of the kiln before I fire it this year.
Noborigama, day 2
The firing is going well. I am using old wood that isn’t giving me any problems. The temperature went to about 1,000 C. from the front, I just started the side stoking about an hour ago.
